Truvativ BB Adapter
Being mechanically inept to say the least, I had been having an ongoing battle to try and setup and keep set up my BMX BB. In the end sanity prevailed and I went looking for alternatives.
This led me to look at the idea of BB adapter cups that would allow me to run a standard Mtb BB. The truvativ adapter looked good on paper so I decided to go with one of these.
Basically the adapter is two cups that press into the BB shell and are bolted together with three long screws. From here a mtb BB can be installed in the usual manner.
Initially getting the three bolt holes to line up took a little but of fiddling, but once lined up, the whole thing went together quiet nicely.
How does it function you ask?? Well it doesn’t feel any different to a BB installed within a standard frame. The only thing I have noticed is my bike is silent, no more creaking and groaning under power. And the best thing, no more struggling with tight spots in the chain.
Overall it looks pretty neat once installed and the only issue I can see arising will be the ability of the adapter to handle a BB mounted chain device. I run a single speed set up so this wont be an issue for me, but it is definitely something to consider if you want to run a chain device up front. Check back soon for pictures of the installed adapter.
