Maelstrom Test Ride

While we had a frame to show at EuroBike, Interbike marked the real coming out of the Maelstrom. Fully built up, riders finally had the chance to see what a balanced ride this model will be. We call it a freeride bike, but we're sure it will be equally adept as a 'park bike' or for the rider who does a few DH races per year.

What's so notable is that we have created a long travel bike (7"/180mm) that pedals really efficiently, yet can descend with the best bikes out there. The Maelstrom's climbing is a result of the bikes floating idler pulley which reduces chain pull to a meager five millimeters in either chainring. As a descender, with its mid-high rearward mounted pivot, the axle path of the Maelstrom is rearward moving throughout the entire axle-path. This is very unique and contributes to the bikes ability to control energy input from the riding environment.

Pablo has been down in the Seattle area recently trail testing the Maelstrom (check the mud on the tires - gotta love the PNW). So far, he can't stop talking about how well the bike climbs. Comments like "best climbing bike I've ever ridden". Keep your eyes open, the Utah desert is the next stop!

Finally, it seems everybody is excited about the Maelstrom's low 2:1 stroke ratio which is a result of the bikes 7 inches of travel while combined with the shock's 3.5 inches of stroke. It is interesting to note that most riders will likely use a 250 to 300 pound spring. It's just what we are after, a very light and adjustable spring.

Maelstrom frames are expected to be available for shipment during the month of February.

Eurobike & Interbike

We gave the world a sneak peak of Corsair Bikes at Colorado and Whistler Crankworx, but EuroBike and Interbike marked the major debut for our company. The interest in the bikes at both shows was quite high - not only did we sew up some of our biggest distributorships, but we also had a ton of shop guys from all over the world come by to kick the tires. For web coverage, you can check out Pink Bike, Sicklines, BikeMagic, NSMB and MatchVideozine. Decline just ran a print article, and we expect to see more features soon - when we do we will let you know.

Our only regret from the shows is the fact we were unable to attend the Outdoor Demo events. We know many of you are dying to ride the bikes and we can't wait to have you try them out. As soon as it is possible, we will let you know. For now, we can't seem to get the prototypes out of the hands of our founders - Pablo, Jordan, Carla and Doug are all scrambling to get their ride time in, and at the moment, the bikes are somewhere in Colorado...

(Note to Pablo: I want to take the König on Monday - Carla :-)

The Adjustable

Headtube Angle

Image of Adjustable Headtube on König Frame

While Corsair didn't invent the adjustable headtube, we do believe we have advanced the technology and created a better product versus all other systems previously or currently on the market.

The Corsair system does not rely on a heavy sleeve. Instead we have created a headset that offers the adjustment and yet fits directly into the frame. This system is lightweight compared to the others and doesn't have the problem of creaking like the others.

Adjustability of the headtube angle is beneficial for two separate conditions. First, it allows a rider to use a suspension fork with a different length of travel while maintaining the bikes correct geometry. Second, many riders have a preference toward a particular 'ride feel'. Having an adjustable headtube angle allows the rider to dial in the exact steering characteristic they prefer.

We expect to see many more high performance bikes with this feature in the near future. There's no reason not to have it.

Check out the Crown technical page on the Corsair website for more information about our designs.

Corsair Launch the König Slopestyle Frame

Corsair Logo

After a Crankworx style killing machine? Then look no further. The new Corsair Konig looks like it could take out the crown without a rider even getting close to this beast. They seem to come with everything; Adjustable headtube angle for tune-ability, Replaceable engineered fit drop-outs in Maxle, Horizontal or 10mm QR style, CenterBalance design for superior handling, 12 layer paint process to make them look oh-so-pornstar and more...

After opening the attachments from the president at Corsair, the 1st thing to come to mind was "bugger me, they look sick!"

Schwinn; the Kings of bicycles are Back!

Schwinn are Back

Schwinn have been around for what seems ever. If it wasn't for this brand, I'm not sure BMX or Mountain Biking would exist? The first BMX's were transformed Dragsters like the StingRay. The first Mountain Bikes were transformed Schwinn Beach Cruisers. So you see, if it weren't for Schwinn, I believe this website would contain rude images and useless Tour de Frog dribble.*

Due to constant battling with spammers and spam crawl-bots, I have had to disable the forum until I can work on a fix. I apologise for the shut-down, but because of these germ-like pricks that write these bots, I have no choice but to close it (temp.)

If anyone has a fix for phpBB forums, I'd be greatful for your input.

Thanks for the support
