UCI MTB World Cup, Champery, Switzerland-Kiwis Tame the Mud

Europe delivered another wet, muddy weekend to the 2010 UCI World Cup at Champery in Switzerland over the weekend. This 4th round of the World Cup is also the first this year where both Downhill and Cross Country disciplines came together at the same event - and both were affected by the weather.

2010 Singlespeed Worlds, Rotorua, Nz Entries...

Because of demand, Kiwi entries to the 2010 Singlespeed World Champs (powered by Kiwibikes and a great crew of friendly locals) in Rotorua on October 23 are open again for a strictly limited time. The planned limit of 500 was reached back in June - however, a few people from overseas have had to DNS - so more room for the locals!

Cameron Cole breaks his wrist

A small crash in the mud at Champery, Switzerland has left Maxxis-Rocky Mountain team rider Cameron Cole, 22, with a broken scaphoid in his right hand, derailing his UCI World Cup downhill campaign for 2010. But the laconic Kiwi says there is a chance he could be back in time for the World Championships, which will be held at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec at the end of August.

Dean was outsprinted at the end of the 153 kilometre stage by the Italian Alessandro Petacchi, at the head of a bunch of 30 riders all credited with the same time as the winner

Record entries in Corporate Pursuit

Record entries have resulted in 34 teams in the Harrex Group Corporate Pursuit cycling event which starts tomorrow night with grading trials. In previous years a maximum of 32 teams could enter the event but organisers Cycling Southland have increased the field to allow for the extra interest, and the line up is a mixture of 22 returning local businesses and 12 new teams.
