Tracey Hannah Interview

Today Soul-Riders.com had a chit chat with fast Aussie girl Tracey Hannah.

SR: So Trace, can I call you Trace?

TH: Ha ha yeah!

SR: Congratulations on your Norba & World Cup results. First of all we’ll start off with your Norba series

success. How does it feel to be on top of the series points tally at the end of the year 1 point ahead of that fast French lady Sabrina Jonnier?

TH: Umm pretty cool, especially now cause shes world champ.

SR: Now becoming the Junior World Cup winner, where will we be seeing you come this race season? Overseas?

TH: Yep, im riding for "morewood" this year and we will be doing the first World Cup in Spain, then the next one, and then back to the USA for some races there.

SR: Do you have any concerns about moving into the Elite Women class this year at WC's?

TH: Oh nah, it'll be good ay.

SR: What did you have for breaky this morning?

TH: Coffee and PB on toast. [PB = Peanut Butter - YUM!]

SR: Is that a daily habbit?

Tracey Hannah fast trackingTH: OH YEAH! EVERY DAY...!

SR: Do you follow a healthy regime or prefer a good beer and pie for breaky?

TH: Oh that sounds grose! I'm not a health freak, but i don't eat pie's for breakfast.

SR: How much riding do you get in a week??

TH: Umm it depends on the weather, downhilling I usually do a fair bit on the weekend.

SR: Who does all the work on your bike? Mechanically, cleaning etc?

TH: I clean it sometimes. When it breaks Dad fixes it for me.

SR: I hear your brother is a bit of a Downhiller too. What's it like having to carry him under your wing?

TH: Ha ha... he's better than me, I think I'm under his wing.

SR: Did you ever play "Punch-Buggy" in the back seat of the car when you guys were kids? If so, who won?

TH: I only learnt that game when I went to race in the U.S when I was 16, I definatly sucked at it.

SR: Do you think he has had any influence on your success?

TH: If your talking bout Mick... then yeah! He has so much good advice all the time at races, its good.

SR: All riders like yourself need to set goals, to be determined, what goals have you set?

TH: Yeah, I would like to win Worlds this year, I think that would be big.

SR: What is the riding Culture like up there in Cairns, other than sweaty?

TH: Umm social...! Haha.

SR: What new special gear are you running on your bike for an attack on the '07 season? Basket? Flag & bell maybe? You know I was once booked for riding with No bell or flag?

TH: Streamers actually!

SR: So how did you get into Downhill? What discipline gave you your grass-roots experience?

TH: Bit of bmx when I was young, then Mick started downhill and I got a "hand-me-down" so I started.

SR: What was your first bike?

TH: A Haro/Intense m1- they were the same.

SR: Where did you place in your first race?

TH: I don't remember, I raced elite nationals when I was 14 and came 2nd.

SR: What was your worst injury?

TH: I broke my collar-bone, and knocked myself out in a mtnx race once. Tracey in full throttle mode

SR: What do you think of Dr.Sprocket?

TH: Haha...! Hmmm

SR: What are your thoughts on “Two” Finger Braking?

TH: You stop real fast.

SR: What do you think of those who have these great expensive bikes but never ride them?

TH: Lucky!

SR: Do you think Queer is the new bike clothing fashion?

TH: I hope not, but maybe.

SR: What would you say if a crazy man on the track yelled out “get ya balls out” as an expression to go faster?

TH: Haha, I would laugh my head off, thats hilarious.

SR: Do you agree White Frames are better than Anodized Blue frames?

TH: Nah

SR: Well thanks for your time Trace & we at Soul-Riders wish you the very best of luck for this year!

TH: yeah thanks alot ay, I will be checkin out the site.
